Emily Schickner, AIA, joined Harrison Design in 2017 and in 2021 was promoted to the firm’s first female Principal Architect. She has led over two million square-feet of design and construction, achieving national award-winning recognition. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Miami University of Ohio, and a Master of Architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.

She serves on the Bill Harrison Foundation Board of Directors and Georgia Tech’s College of Design Advisory Board. From 2022-2024 she served on AIA Atlanta’s Board of Directors as 2023 President. From 2020-2021, she served as the AIA South Atlantic Young Architect Regional Director and in 2021 graduated from AIA Georgia’s Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program. For her efforts in her profession and community, she has been named to Georgia Tech Alumni “40 Under 40” list in 2024, as one of Georgia's Most Influential Leaders by GeorgiaTrend in 2023, and in 2022 received the Emerging Professional Award for AIA Georgia.

She is known for her expertise and advocacy efforts in the field of mental health and architecture, mentorship to emerging professionals, and activism for JEDI efforts in the profession and community. She is highly sought after to speak on panels and webinars, provide presentations and dialogue to raise awareness for a broader audience.

She enjoys balancing work and volunteer with time with her husband and three young children, long runs outdoors, cooking and travelling.
